Join YWCA Kauaʻi for a special screening of Voices Behind Barbed Wire: Stories of Hawaiʻi.
Eighty years ago in February 1942, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066, which resulted in the establishment of internment camps for people of Japanese ancestry. Relocation centers were stationed throughout the country with several across Hawaiʻi on multiple islands. This film shares untold first-hand accounts of Hawaiʻi residents and their experiences of being detained during World War II.
Doors of the KCC Fine Arts Auditorium open at 5:00 pm.
